You’ve just gotten engaged, your friends and family are all toasting you and the love of your life over a glass of champagne, and you feel like you are on cloud nine! But before any questions of kids, catering and choosing bridesmaids stresses out your wedding planning, here are some of the best things to look forward to that will keep you smiling all the way through.
The Food Test
Eating is a communal activity that can bring together people from all walks of life. You share your evening meal with your family growing up, celebrate milestones like birthdays, anniversary and holidays over a special meal, and it can help forge special memories. Similarly to this, the food you and your guests eat at your wedding are just as special – whether you end up eating it or not.
On your actual wedding day, you might be too caught up talking to all your family and friends to actually sit down and eat the meal that you paid $100 a person for. It’s kind of a fact of life for a bride and groom unfortunately. This is why taste testing the food is one of the best things to do during the wedding planning because you get to sample all the delicious tasty treats – free of charge!
This is a great time to tailor your menu to make sure that it is everything you want it to be for your wedding day, and it also makes for a fabulous date night when you might have otherwise been too busy to have one. And who really needs an excuse for a wonderful dinner?
The Cake Test
In the same way that sampling the flavours of your menu is an enjoyable way to both be decadent and plan your wedding, sampling your wedding cake makes you feel exactly Marie Antoinette.
You get to have different slices of different flavours, sample buttercream vs fondant, and essentially give yourself full permission to gorge yourself on cake. I don’t really think you need any more reasons as to why this is one of the best parts when it comes to planning your wedding.
Planning the Honeymoon
I’m yet to find a person who isn’t excited when it comes to planning a holiday, and your Honeymoon is no different. Whether you are staying in a quaint little farm stay two towns over or jetting off to a remote tropical island, your Honeymoon is guaranteed to be good. Filled with the one person you love the most in the world, it’s all romance, indulgence and – if you can angle it – free stuff!
Planning your Honeymoon may pale in comparison when it comes to the actual wedding, but don’t lose sight – the Honeymoon is the reward for all the family drama and questions about when you are going to have a baby. Enjoy it!
The Celebratory Events
The road of wedding planning is paved with other, albeit smaller, events. From your engagement party to your Kitchen Tea, your Bachelor and Bachelorette party, and even to events thrown to choose your bridal party and your dress, you will feel like you are in constant celebration and surrounded by love.
The greatest part about attending these smaller events is that you don’t really have to do the planning for them! You just get to show up, drink champagne and show off your engagement ring because your Maid of Honour throws the Bachelorette party, your mother throws the Kitchen Tea, and the parents usually throw the engagement party.
Now that is something to enjoy after knowing just how much work goes into planning these kind of events.
Marrying Your Soul Mate
In most occasions, when you get married you are connecting yourself with the person that you love the most in the world, and there is absolutely nothing more special than that. No matter your race, religion, style, gender, or wedding it’s all about you and them. Walk down the aisle and look in their eyes – it’s the deepest connection you will ever make because you will know that you are about to marry your soul mate.
And everything else will fall away, and everything will be worth it.
